Art in the Garden
Updated: Aug 11, 2021
TCG x MACA
The garden has partnered with the McDowell Arts Council Association to offer arts programming this summer!
The first program, Art in the Garden, is underway. The past 2 Saturdays, people of all ages came out to start various projects throughout the garden. Big changes are already underway; we have the fire pit partially installed, the small bridge was rebuilt (thanks to Susan and her father!) and primed to paint, decorative posts were installed and painted, and 2 of the raised beds have been primed. The next 2 Saturdays we will be doing more painting, and beginnings some fun projects, including fairy doors and mosaics.

We have thoroughly enjoyed the art days thus far! Kids played in the garden, painted their own collaborative masterpiece, colored and drew together with the take-home art kits that Anna brought. We've enjoyed snacks together while sitting in the shade.
This is the first of hopefully many collaborations between the TCG and MACA! #communitypartnershipsmatter
Join us for Art in the Garden on Saturday June 19th & 26th from 10 am - 12 pm!
All supplies are being generously provided by MACA, and people of all skill levels are encouraged to attend.
UPDATE
The final Art in the Garden day has been completed and thanks to the help of volunteers from FUGE Camps, we have completed many beautification projects! One of our neighbors commented that it is so wonderful to see color in the neighborhood. The beds have been painted, flower beds have been put together with rocks, our art projects have been placed around the garden, and we have several posts painted colorfully to mark the pathways through the garden plot. A big thank you to everyone who participated! It was an absolute BLAST and we will be collaborating with MACA in the future. We can't wait to see what is next for Art in the Garden!
